Boston bombing suspect taken into custody
An injured Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, the surviving suspected Boston Marathon bomber, was in police custody on Friday night after scores of officers surrounded a house in a suburb of the city.

At about 8.45pm eastern time, Boston police sent a tweet from the offical account, confirming: "Suspect in custody. Police sweeping area."

The hunt had escalated during the early evening when there were reports of gunfire from the Franklin Street area of Watertown, leading to a stand-off lasting nearly two hours.

The hunt came to an end as officers pinpointed the 19-year-old to where he was hiding in a boat in the back garden. He was then rushed to a local hospital.
